Our Happy Past Puppy Customers!

          The Russell Family & Boo

"Boo slept on Patty's lap most of the way home. He pee'd on his new blanket( marking his spot lol) We went and got him his wet food, and a bed. He ate and is now taking a nap. He has really taken to Mike. I think they will be best friends for a long time.

Thanks for everything." -Gary

The Merrit Family & Zoey, Emma

"I just wanted to let you know that our puppy is the most precious thing in the world and we are SOOO happy with her..  She is doing wonderful!  We can't thank you enough!!  Did you find a home for Alice yet?  She was so adorable as well, I am glad I didn't have to pick between them, Mark made that decision and he didn't hesitate so it worked out well.  Color wise, I would have gone for Alice but he loves the brindle coloring.  I know he made the right choice for us and we will give her a loving home.  She made her first road trip without incidence and was perfect the whole time we were gone. She traveled well and socialized wtih my brother's dogs well.  Again, thank you so much."

       The Rhoades Family & Jasper

"Hi Tara,   I just wanted to let you know that Jasper is doing well and we already love him lots!    We can definitely tell that he likes to bark, but he's doing great with housetraining so far.  A pleasant change for our last doxie.  He is in love with his big brother Oliver, but Oliver's not so sure yet.  They've been playing together, but then Oliver gets scared of the little guy and runs away.
I've been trying to get some pictures of him but it's just so hard - he never stops moving!  When I get a good one I will send it on to you."

A Message From the Russells & Boo

"Boo went to the vet yesterday, weighed in at 5 lbs,11ozs. and got his second shot. He did real well with the shot, but got scared when the tech. wanted to trim his nails. You would have thought he was being killed. But he's ok. He also got tested for worms, they came back negative. Also got meds, for heart worm prevention. He's getting better at house training. and he has really taken to crate training. He goes into his bed/crate when ever he wants to take a nap. The cats are 50/50 about him. He barks and they run. Here he is going for a ride in his wagon. lol"  -Gary

A Message From the Rhoades Family & Jasper

"Hi Tara,   I meant to email you!  Jasper was at the vets for an exam and rabies shot on Tuesday.  He's up to 5.3 pounds (he was 4.7 pounds at his 11 week visit).  I think he's going to be a little guy.  The vet said that he looks great though and everytime we go all of the women who work there come to pet him and comment on his unusual coloring.  They all love him!    He is quite the outgoing puppy. He runs and jumps and does everything that our older dog does without thinking twice about it.  They are friends now though.  They will sleep together and chew on opposite ends of the same bone together.  Attached is a picture of them "helping" my husband Jeff use the computer and also them playing their new favorite game of barking at each other until one gives up.  He's still pretty much a blur in every picture that I take, but I'll keep trying.    As you can see he's already a lap dog even though he can't get on the couch by himself yet.  He's also made friends with our cat who likes to play hide and seek with him behind the curtain.  They're finally starting to become one big happy animal family.   Thanks for checking in on him, he is doing great!"

The Harte Family & Nessie

Dear Tara,
I am so happy with my new puppy,Nessie, she is the cutest little girl! She has adapted to our family very well, and without any problems. I was very pleased with how the process went. You really helped me out, and made it easy for me. Especially since I was a little nervous because my last experience with a breeder was not good. You really put my nerves to rest, and I was very grateful for that. You kept all your promises, and everything went very smooth. We kept in touch the whole time, and you kept me update with pictures of her as she grew which was really great!  I am so glad that we have a good friendship that came with my puppy purchase also :) I look forward to working with you in the future. You are a great breeder, and have great pups that are well socialized, wonderful temperaments, VERY playful, and gorgeous. I would never hesitate to recommend you to anyone who is looking for a doxie(which I have done). Thank you for everything!
                                     Chelsy

"It's amazing how young you are and you're such a respectable breeder. I would only ever refer any of my friends to you."

Dr.Garrow, Godiva & Heath

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!

I have so very much to be thankful for this year, and very near the top of the list is the happiness and joy that Godiva and Heath have brought in to my world.

Godiva is definitely a "diva". She's already taken charge of things and has definitely become "Daddy's Girl". She loves to sit on my lap and watch football.

Heath is so sweet and precious. He's a clown and makes me laugh.

Everyone is getting along great. I apologize that I don't have any recent photos. One of my daughters is coming home today, and I'll ask her to try to take some pictures to share with you.

Hope all is well with you.

Best wishes,

George

Sierra & Kai

About 8 months ago I wasted so much time searching newspaper, Craigslist, pennswoods, and everything in-between on Google. I was at my wits end with scams and puppy mill breeders and just not finding the type of dachshund that I wanted. I was about to give up when I typed a simple status on Facebook "does anyone know where I can get a dachshund puppy for less than $500?" One of my friends responded with a link to Tara's star doxies. I emailed her with everything I was looking for coat, color, and pattern wise. It just happened to be that everything I wished for was waiting for his new home. Kai is my black and tan long hair dapple boy, and him coming into my life has changed everything. He is so sweet, obiediant, compassionate, smart, loyal, and everything anyone would want in their new baby. Every night I come home from work he's waiting at the top of the stairs wagging his butt. He stares deep in your eyes and holds your face with his little paws then showers you in loving kisses. He knows when I'm sick and is so patient with me while I'm in bed sleeping all day. He doesn't try to make me play, or cry to go outside. I always think he's bored being in my room while I'm sleeping and coughing. Loan and behold my boyfriend would try and take him away from me to play outside or go eat but he would just run upstairs and scratch on my door and crawl in bed or entertain himself on the floor. He's 7 months old now and becoming more independent and even starting to sleep in his own bed half of the night. He wakes me up every morning between 7:30 and 10:30 to go outside because he won't have accidents on the bedroom floor. It just blows my mind how considerate and smart he is. I always recommend my friends a sweet baby doxie from Tara because she has something for EVERYONE. she's always been reasonable with prices and how you decide to pay her. She'll talk and work out any sort of payment plan with her. If you pick a puppy from birth she sends pictures of his or her growth and development. She gives you information of the mother and father of the puppy. She's also become a friend for life for me.

                                     --Sierra Nichols

UPDATE! Since Sierra adopted Kai, she has adopted 2 more Star Doxie babies! Sierra now has 3 our kids! Front left is Kai, her 1st from us, then in back Neeko, and last is little Lilith, whom is 1/2 sister to Kai! She is so happy with them all!!

The Harris Family & Anabel

When I bought my first dachshund
puppy I instantly fell in love with the breed and I knew I wanted to get another one! I searched many sites for my perfect baby but nothing felt right. When I came to Tara's website and saw she had many upcoming litters I
immediately emailed her to get on the waiting list. After the puppies arrived Tara called us and notified us a chocolate smooth girl was born! Exactly what we
wanted!! She was so great sending us pictures and updates on our puppy 'Anabel'. When we finally picked up our puppy she was already piddle pad trained! She kept
herself from going to the bathroom the whole night EVERY DAY! And now with her being with us for two weeks she is ALREADY house-trained! Anabel is the most amazing puppy I have ever met and I am SO thankful I could find a breeder who really cared and loved for her dachshunds! So again thank you soooo much Tara
for a one of a kind puppy!

The Niles Family & Thunder

During Christmas of 2011 all my grandchildren had agreed on a name for our puppy. His name would be Thunder. I let them choose the name because I chose the breed- a male short haired blue miniature dachshund. Thus began the search...
I searched the websites, pet stores and contacted a few breeders, but I felt more like a number than a potential dog owner. Until I found StarDoxies. I don't know how I "missed" this site. I emailed the breeder to inquire about a solid blue puppy especially after I saw Lacy a solid blue dam. Tara, the breeder was sweet, kind & informative. She had two litters that may give me the puppy but if neither did she'd help me get one. Extremely more caring & compassionate than the other sites so with her reassurance I sent her a deposit. My granddaughters and I enjoyed watching the time ticker as well as the "belly" pictures.  I gave the website to my sister who has my youngest granddaughter in addition to my grandson who lives with his Papa so they too can view the growth of Thunder.
On March 20, 2012 Myah, a Solid, Isabella, dapple with no points dam gave birth to only one puppy. A blue male.  Tara had named him "River". She was ecstatic & sent me the photos right away. Ok, I'm like confused because I thought my puppy would be born to Lacy so I questioned Tara about the chances of the puppy being a dapple, staying solid blue and I know she wanted to reassure me this was my pup so she sent me a photo of "River's" brother from another mother in addition to explaining the color patterns & no points etc. She told me having one, male, solid, blue pup was meant to be for us.  She didn't know the grandchildren had picked out Thunder as his name.  How ironic was that?  Now the 8 week waiting begins & my girls are driving me crazy with the question " how much longer"!  Tara sent us weekly photos & my eldest granddaughter made a slide show of him & sent to Tara. How do we get him my youngest granddaughter asks?  He'll be put on an airplane for us to pickup in Fort Lauderdale.  She was so disappointed that Thunder was flying in a plane before her.
After tremendous lightning, rain, thunder and many delays we finally met our Thunder. It turns out another "meant to be" as Thunder has hazel eyes like my daughter who recently passed away leaving four children motherless.
Tara is truly a great person and breeder who gives love to her dogs, puppies and future dog owners. We have received many compliments on his color and disposition. If anyone asks me where I got Thunder I am proud to say StarDoxies!

PS. Lacy didn't have any blue pups go figure!

The Stringfellow Family and Baxter

Dear Tara,

I just wanted to give you an update on Baxter as you were his initial Mom.

Baxter (Coal) is precious to the extent that I recognize that he looks that way so often that I think his second name is Precious.

Baxter has fit in so well with the family, and especially our other two doxies, even though they are 12 and 14 years of age.  He romps and plays with them so much and then exhausts himself and conks out asleep for an hour or two being washed by one of them.

He had his initial vet visit two days after he got home and passed with flying colors.  He had no problems with any fleas or other creatures.  His stool specimen was clean.  Everybody in the veterinary office loved him and took him in the back to see the rest of the staff.  Not bad considering that they see puppies all day every day.

He loves cuddling especially around our necks and is so affectionate.  Not to make him sound like an angel, at times he gets caught running with a shoe, table cloth, or curtain in his mouth, but that is just one of the things that makes puppies so adorable.  Thank-you so much for sharing a beautiful dachshund with us.  He has fit in perfectly.  And you worked so well with my husband to plan everything and keep it a secret from me.

                                                                     With thanks,

                                                                                                             Janine Maier Stringfellow

The Fye-Rupert Family & Paisley

I looked for what felt like forever to find a dachshund breeder, I searched Craigslist, and pennswoods everyday! After typing up a million ads and not getting anywhere I finally found a dachshund, picked him up just to find that he was a chiweenie. I was so angry and upset! I talked to a friend and she told me about taras star doxies and told me to add her on Facebook and it only got better from there. I contacted Tara about a gorgeous long haired chocolate and tan baby girl, and a few weeks later we picked her up! Paisley is such a doll baby! She is the sweetest little girl ever! I am always worried about getting a puppy due to having a 2 year old but Paisley is amazing with my son. They are seriously best friends! She is so patient with him, never even attempts to snip at him and let's him do whatever he wants with her. I will only ever recommend that anyone goes to Tara to get a dachshund she has what everyone is looking for and even if she doesn't at that time she will gladly put you on a waiting list so when she does have that puppy you'll know about it. She will keep you updated with pictures and everything up until the day you pick him/her up, and she keeps in contact with you even after the puppy is no longer in her care. Tara is an amazing breeder, she has become such a good friend and I cannot wait to get another puppy from her soon. I definitley recommend anyone who is looking for a doxie baby to get one from Tara's star doxies, you won't regret it!

The Bartley Family and Paul

Once my family and I decided that we were ready for a puppy I immediately began searching for local dachshund breeders. Once I came across Star Doxies, I knew Tara would be the right breeder for us. I got my name on a waiting list for a gorgeous girl named Venus and then the hard part came.....waiting!!! I must have emailed Tara every week or so to see if Venus was heat! And like a true professional Tara answered me each time promptly and understood my excitement. Tara had informed me that another one of her Star girls could be expecting a dapple male and sure enough once I saw his little face I ended up choosing a puppy from Belle and Witty's litter. We chose a black n tan dapple male and we named him Paul. He has the most beautiful markings and we get numerous compliments on him! Tara sent us weekly updated photos and even videos of Paul playing with his siblings! She even made him a birth certificate! Tara made this such a wonderful experience for us that we will definitely be back for another Doxie and will be recommending her to everyone!! Thank you Tara for the wonderful addition to our family, he fits in so well and is such a sweetheart, you can tell

hes been loved since he was born!

                                                   Saxonburg, PA

UPDATE! Since Caressa has adopted Paisley, she has also added 2 more Star Doxie babies to her family!! Front right is Paisley, front left is Jax, and in the back her newest is Rylee! She loves them all dearly!

The Moore Family and Charlie

Tara/Stardoxies:

I could not be more pleased with the experience that I have had with you: it’s been great! I love that you keep in touch and I feel I can talk to you about any little problem and you can help me or guide me.  I’ve learned so much from this experience.    I can assure you that if I were to get another doxie I would repeat this experience in a heartbeat!

So I want to thank you for getting Charlie and our family together, as it was indeed a perfect match; for all your efforts in breeding our perfect dog; and for the attention received all this time. It’s been awesome!

 Sincerely,
Christy Moore

The Mottin Family and Peyton

Hello Tara...

I was just sitting here playing with the puppy that I got from you. What a little joy he is. With that stated, let me back track a little.

When I saw his little face online, I knew I just had to contact you, and when you responded so quickly and told me that you told your hubby that the last puppy had found his home without even letting me know first, really made me feel good. Then when my uncle and I came to see him, I was even more happy..he was such a beautiful little boy and he seemed to know I was there to take him home..the disappointing thing was...I was going to have to wait 4 more weeks to bring him home. I loved that you let us play with him, but if you remember, he just fell asleep in our laps. I sent a pic of him to my other half and he was not excited at all, but when it was time for him to depart your great care and come to live with us, my other half came up with me and I knew once he saw him in person, he would love him as much as I did..and HE DID!!!!
He now has become an important part in our lives and he loves to play with our other 3. I must give you props for the way I saw how much you love your dogs, and it was awesome to see my puppys parents right there...along with all of your other beauties...anyhow, I look forward to getting another puppy from you, just not sure when, but I do know where I am going to find him...or her.

Thank you so much for our precious little boy!!!!

                                                                                                      Brian

The Weaver Family, Zoey and Izzy

My name is Christina and I'm a previous buyer of Tara's. I'm from a small town near Pittsburgh, PA and I bought from Tara in January of this year (12') when our pups were born. I had been on a waiting list with Tara, however, since December sometime. Tara, I must say was quite amazing through the puppy buying experience, as we had never participated in this type of transaction before. My husband and I had never interacted with breeders and we had some reservations about it. We were nervous about the exchange of money (deposit) and protecting ourselves. We have always been hesitant, because its so difficult to tell who is legitimate and who is not anymore. In fact, the reason I picked Tara in the beginning was simply because a friend from work had used her first and had only nice things to say. Tara was wonderful, I must say. She obviously sensed our hesitation and day in and day out she was there to answer any and all questions we had. The entire process went so smoothly and I was truly impressed. In March, we made the drive to her hometown where we purchased our two girls; a black and cream girl and a black and cream silver dapple. Tara's home was clean and her dachshunds all looked well cared for and loved. In fact, I even asked why she had a female in one room and a couple other doggies in the other. She explained to me that she separates them during their heats to prevent any accidents and to ensure her pedigrees stay precisely as she intends them to stay. There were multiple other behaviors she did that I noticed in order to stay organized and I appreciated that very much; as I am a "Type A" kind of person as well. I was quite impressed with her setup for the expectant and new mothers as well. Each had a separate pen set up for them and the room was clean, organized, bright and festive...... exactly how it should be to welcome those lovely pups into the world. I toured Tara's entire house and even her yard where Tara's family and my family sat and visited for hours that afternoon. Tara was so friendly, as was her husband. My husband and I have recently started to even forge a friendship with Tara and her husband just because our experience was so wonderful. I get nonstop compliments on our two doxie girls on their beauty and demeanor. Hand down on the Bible, each time the pups meet someone new, they are complimented. People everywhere say that they've never seen a happier, better behaved and friendlier set of pups.  Thank you, Tara, for making our buying experience such a pleasant one and for giving us two wonderful additions to our family!

Sincerely,
Christina Weaver - Pennsylvania

The Busch Family, & Oakley

Dear Tara,

I wanted to start off saying how grateful we are to have found Star Doxies! Our journey began soon after we found out we were expecting another baby. My 2 year old son, Austin was adamant about getting a puppy. When asked if he wanted a brother or sister, he would reply "I want a dog." If asked if there was a baby in my belly, he would say "no silly, its a puppy!" How can you say no to that! That weekend we started researching what kind of puppy would be perfect for us. I grew up with pugs, and my husband- Justin grew up with Labs. However, I didn't want a lab, and he didn't want a pug. So we were learning a new breed from scratch. We literally researched dogs for weeks. We then narrowed our choice down to either a doxie or a golden-doodle. With having a little one in the house currently and one on the way, I didn't want anything big. Our decision was made- Doxie it was!

We started looking at pet stores- the puppies were so sick looking and I didn't like the idea of not knowing where they came from. I had no idea of the background of the pup. Then we started looking at the paper, craigslist, and other websites. That is when I stumbled upon a beautiful little long haired girl from Star Doxies. I called you, was informed the pup has been sold, however you had 2 upcoming litters soon. You reassured me that the puppies were raised indoors- one of the "musts" I was looking for. Talking with you that night ended our search. I could tell just from your voice how much the dogs meant to you. I knew that you breeding these dogs was not just a hobby or a money maker, but you really loved your pups! I wanted to look no more! My husband and I talked, researched the breed more- to make sure it was a good fit, and then was on your website for at least 6 hours that night. A few days later we sent you a deposit and was put on the waiting list. We wanted a  long haired, male- color didn't matter, but really wasn't sure about the dapples...

We were anxiously waiting when I got an email that Lacey delivered 2 black and tan males, and 2 black and tan females. Just what we wanted! You sent pictures- they were so adorable. I was waiting to see the coat type before making a final pick. In that time Belle delivered her 6 babies! Pictures were posted and I absolutely fell
in love with our "baby" Oakley, then named Shadow. At first, I wanted a long hair- knowingly "Shadow" was short haired and dapple- that I didn't want at first- I had to have him!!! I called my husband at home and told him to go look at the pictures. He also loved "Shadow". I emailed you and it was set that he was ours!

You were amazing with keeping in contact through pictures and videos. We were able to watch him grow from birth! My son would ask every week to see his puppy. We picked Oakley up from your home and he slept the 2 1/2 hour drive. Austin could not wait to play with him. Oakley is the perfect pup anyone could ask for! He is fully crate trained, almost housetrained, and is the biggest cuddle bug ever! I love it. He loves to be snuggled! He is already spoiled and knows it. lol. If noone is on the couch he will sit on the floor whining to get up.. haha. We owe this all to you. Words can not describe how much you are appreciated! Austin tells everyone Oakley is the best and he is his best friend. From morning to night, he makes sure Oakley is right a long his side. They are truly best friends, and I am so thankful to watch them grow up together.

Again Tara, words can not express how thankful we are to have found you! You are a special person! Our plan is to get another doxie when Bentley (the new baby) is two. We will look no where else except Star Doxies.

With great thanks,
The Busch Family

P.S. Oakley's first vet check was great. Everyone loved him and said he was perfect. No fleas, and stool came back perfect. They were actually surprised he did not need a dewormer. They said it doesn't happen too often. Another thing to give yourself a much deserved pat on the back for!

Amber and Chewy

Chewy is doing so great in his new home with his new brothers & sister. He is such a cuddle bug & loves burrowing his head under me and sleeping for hours! My boyfriend & I drove from VA to your home in Ohio. It was quite a long drive, but so worth it! I couldn't believe how clean your house was with that many dogs! I don't know how you do it, but I'm so happy to have gotten my little guy from you. Thank you so much!
Love, Amber

The Martin Family, & Titan

UPDATE! Since Jody of Martin's Hounds adopted Titan, they have adopted 3 more Star Doxie kids! They own our past girl Cannoli, our past boy Witty and a past pup out of Daisy and Logan named Sunkist! Sunkist is pictured below!

Hello Tara,
I am sitting here enjoying my little guy Titan that I had purchased from you. I had looked and looked and debated on whether or not to add a little guy to our program and finally decided to do so .. And I could not be happier with him.. You were happy to answer any question I may have had and I am sure I repeated questions time and time again .. and you are one person that would answer the same things over and over until you knew that we understood everything about our new little guy… You were great at keeping us updated with pictures of him each week as he was growing and what he was achieving each week so we could also experience him growing until we brought him home… All of your puppies were very well socialized and you showed me around your home to see all of your other doxies who were nice and happy and so friendly and just wanted to be petted… The puppies nursery and the rest of your home where your 4 legged babies lived was super clean.. If they were not barking you would not know you owned pets at all… This was very hard to find when we were looking before we found you… None of your dogs are caged or kenneled which was great you treat them as a part of your family… When I look for my next addition I will defiantly going back to Tara at Tara’s Star doxies… I had a great experience with her… And I could not thank you enough for our great little man Titan he is a perfect fit in our family and home…
Thanks ,
The Martin Family

The Clarks & Haley

I already had 2 male daschunds when my husband and I decided to get our first dog together. While I wanted a cute little girl to put dresses on- haley took more to my husband but fit in perfectly!  She has the best personality and gets along great with dogs, cats, and kids!  Tara did a great job with her and then was right there to support us when we decided to breed haley (she is too gorgeous not to).  We used Tara for stud service. She kept haley for a week to breed.  She even kept her thru a snowstorm for us!  She treated Haley like the princess she is giving her lots of cuddles and updated us daily.  Tara was there for us throughout the entire experience and never made us feel stupid asking any question. I will never go to another breeder again and look forward to more encounters with Tara!

The Clarks

Damon & Aadie

I wanted to thank Tara and star doxies not only for my wonderful addition to the family Aadi but also her help and patience through the entire process. She was always quick to respond to all my question and went out of her way to help me even at the expense of her truck when she drove to meet me halfway to virginia. I could tell right away that my puppy had been well socialized she took to my family right away and has no fear of strangers. When Aadi gets old enough for a little sister I wont hesitate to contact Tara, I couldnt be happier.

Thank you so much,

Damon

The Norris Family, & Lucy

I thought you'd like to see this picture of Lucy on the back of our couch. She just had her Lyme vaccine ( the rabies, etc. are next week). She has gained one pound in the last two weeks. She is a wonderful dog--sweet, outgoing, affectionate and gutsy especially with other dogs. Housebreaking is going well--very few accidents and is beginning to signal by giving you a deep, soulful look. We are thrilled with her.

                                      Nancy

Hi Tara,

So funny you emailed me I was just telling Kyle and Petey yesterday I was going to send you an update! I don't even know where to begin Petey is the most amazing puppy! He loves meeting new people and animals (one of his new best friends is a cat even LOL!) Petey loves my parents dachshund and is always trying to win her over, she is less than enthused most times haha. He is doing very well with potty training but hates his leash. Petey is very attached to Kyle and I so usually he stays right by us making the leash thing not a big deal right now. He has more personality now that we ever could have imagine and he is a typical stubborn dachshund. We just took him for a check up Monday and he is already up to 5 pounds 6 oz (he was 2 pounds 13oz when we brought him home). His hair as not grown much so we are loving that he's just still so cute and fuzzy. We had to get him a bigger fuzzy bed because he loves  to sprawl out and sleep on his back which is too cute and he has more toys and chews than the local pet store I think! He has a very loving family as well his grandparents and aunt are always begging to babysit :) Health wise he is doing really well there is nothing at all wrong with him mentally which is very clear now. His spin is still in question until he gets a little older but with growing and putting on weight he seems to be doing better now and it in no way impacts his quality of life so we just work with him daily on walking to help build up his muscles. Now we just laugh about it because it gives his walk so much more character. Thanks again for providing us with such a wonderful addition to our family we just love him so much and are having a blast watching him grow.

The Buff Family & Petey

Our experience with adopting Buckeye has been very enjoyable! Tara has kept great contact with us to keep us up to date with how Buckeye has been doing through pictures and videos. The day we brought him home Tara gave us information on how to take care of him and what shots he needed in 3 to 4 weeks; she gave us a shot record too. Very organized!

When we got home Buckeye adapted very well to his new home. He responds to his name and lets us know when he needs to go to bathroom. We are very impressed with how Tara has trained him. We can see her love she has for the puppy’s/ dog’s through our new puppy, Buckeye!

Bear is doing great!  He has quickly become BFF's with Joshua - Bear follows him everywhere.  He's doing very well in the crate at night, and only cries (or squeaks, rather) for about 5 minutes before falling asleep.  He is becoming quite the little escape artist, though.  I stopped home at lunch today to let him out and he had figured out how to get out of the crate while I was gone.  He was a good boy - no accidents and was sitting at the door wagging his tail, waiting for me!

Bear went to the vet on Monday and everything looks good.  All of the girls at the office had to pass him around, of course ;-)

Attached is my favorite picture of him so far - trying to tan that white tummy of his!

I always wanted a dachshund ever since I was little.  One of my favorite movies growing up was Disney’s The Ugly Dachshund and that was the inspiration behind my love for this breed.  So when I finally was able to get my own dog after YEARS of waiting I wanted to get the best and I totally found that in my Ellie.

After months of searching for a reputable breeder in PA, which is no small task since I live only hours away from the puppy mill capital of the world, I finally found Tara’s Star Doxies.  Tara was always very prompt in her responses to me and really made me feel comfortable that I was getting a pup that would be happy and healthy.  She answered all my questions with numerous phone calls and e-mails, she sent me pictures and videos of her breeding operations including the nursery and her home where my pup would be raised.  Even when she was going through a very difficult time her in life personally I always felt that Tara was there to answer my questions and alleviate my concerns.  I also appreciated her structure with deposits, payments, and the wait list.  I really like how she was not in a rush to unload a pup on me she said numerous times that if we didn’t find a pup in this litter our deposit would be good for any of her litters with no expiration.  To me that said she was really focused on getting her pups into good homes and not just trying to unload them.

My pup, we named her Ellie, was born on August 7th, 2012 and we picked her up on October 6th, 2012 and since then she has been such a blessing in our house.  Our Ellie (out of Cannoli and Witty) is just the best dog ever.  All of our friends, family, and neighbors always tell us how great she is and how much they love her.  Not only for her looks because she truly is just a BEAUTIFUL dachshund but her personality as well.  Even our vet, who says she was one of the healthiest puppies she’s ever seen, wants to steal her away.  When we brought her home Ellie was the talk of our neighborhood with people often stopping us when we were on our walks because we were “the ones with the cute little dachshund.”

Ellie is the sweetest dog, she LOVES to cuddle, to meet new people, to play with other animals, and she is just so gentle with everyone.  She does amazing with little children from newborns to toddlers she isn’t aggressive or shy at all and she is so well behaved.  Ellie is also so caring towards other dogs, my in-laws breed beagles and we like to call Ellie “Aunt Ellie” because she is such a good baby sitter and so gentle with the pups.

Ellie has such an amazing personality and really defies what I like to think of as the “dachshund norms.”  She is quiet, almost never barks and never barks at people or dogs when she sees them (now if they come to our front door that’s a different story but she is quieted with a simple command).  She is so trainable, we taught her sit, stay, come, speak, drop it, and bring it (retrieve) within the first month of having her.  She is never aggressive or overly protective…she’s a great guard dog and always lets us know when someone or something is close but she is so calm and submissive towards other people and dogs.  I attribute Ellie being such a great dog to her being trained very early and of course her fantastic genetics, which I can only thank Tara for that.  We are constantly recommending Tara to our friends if they want a dog because we are just so pleased with our experience and our pup.

My husband and I are definitely in the market to get Ellie a “baby brother” and we know without a doubt we are going to Tara for our next dachshund.  We could not be happier with our Ellie who is such an amazing part of our family and we are so thankful to have found such a great breeder in Tara!

My husband and I purchased a beautiful dachshund puppy from Taras' Star Doxies and are so very pleased with her. She is everything that Tara described plus more. We can tell that she was born into a loving atmosphere and that comes through in her temperament. We would highly recommend Taras' Star Doxies to our family and friends.

I adopted 2 female AKC female dachshund puppies from

Tara  Wilson On July 20, 2013. I found Tara while I was surfing the internet looking for a dachshund puppy. She was the first breeder who took the time to answer all my questions regardless of what the questions were. She agreed to meet me in PA. She was on time, and had all the necessary paperwork ready. The puppies were clean and well kept. My return home trip was 6 hrs. Upon my arrival home Tara called to make sure I made it home safe and to also ask how the puppies did w/ the ride home. Tara is a wonderful, caring person. She continues to help me with my puppies and has answered all my questions promptly. I continue to keep her updated on the puppies and she continues to check in with me to see how they are doing. I would recommend Tara to anyone looking to adopt a dachshund puppy, as she is very knowledgeable and a compassionate breeder. Her love and compassion for her dachshunds puts her above other breeders hands down.
